It has happened. I have gotten some knitting mojo back! It all started with a hat I made for Nick in replacement for one I ruined, and somehow it was quite fun. So I got back on Ravelry and started looking at some patterns and groups... and suddenly I had cast on a pair of socks! And I was knitting on the old pair I started waaay back in the spring, too! I'm delighted and hope this lasts, at least the winter.
Here are my current sock WIPs:
Basic socks with handdyed yarn
Very basic 2x2 ribbing on the cuff and on the top of the sock, heel flap and toe decreased from the sides and finalized with kitchener stitch.
The yarn is handdyed by me with KoolAid, it's a basic thin 4-ply sock yarn with 75% wool in it. With this kind of yarn I usually use 2,5 mm dpns.
I think these will be for me, but we'll see. I have quite enough of socks at this time as my Mom has been making me lots of them!
Sauna-socks
This second project was cast on when I wanted to make something small and warming. I found this deep orange, almost terracotta coloured Novita Nalle yarn in my stash, and went to look for a pattern tpo go with it. I rediscovered the Sauna-sukat pattern from the Finnish knitting ezine Ulla from 2006 and decided to go with that. I have actually knit these socks once before - then also in orange!
I am using 3 mm dpns and knitting a women's size sock - perhaps as a little return of the favour to my Mom?
Anyhow, I am so glad to be knitting again and if this is a true rekindling of the love, you'll be sure to see a lot of new content here soon!
