Last weekend of August it was the last weekend with really nice, hot weather so we did a little local excursion on both days (read about Sundays trip to Slagheap Hoheward here).

Today was the first really cold day here. That made me think it's high time to post this little article about a day trip we did late August. Tt was a really nice weather so we did a little local excursion on both days (read post on trip to Duisburg Landscape Park here).

A while back I went on a historic train here in Essen, it's called Hespertalbahn (Hesper valley train) and it's run by a little association that likes old trains and uses the old tracks in the Hesper valley alongside the Baldeney lake! Some weekends in the year they drive these old diesel or steam locomotives with old wagons a short route from Kupferdreh to the Scheppen old cement factory.

I went to a garden wedding last weekend in Bavaria. It was a blast! The really fun, laid back wedding of my husbands cousin and her now-hubby was held in her parent's farm. There even was a bouncy castle and yes, adults were allowed in! I'm telling you, it really was a blast!

So, as you must have noticed, my knitting mojo which kind of faded away some years ago never really returned. I haven't been blogging weekly, not even monthly, and hardly ever about my knits.

I am still here though, and I am doing interesting things, so I've decided to let go of the knitting-only idea of my blog worsted-knitt.net, and make it more of a personal blog; a place where I can talk more about things that matter to me today in this time and place of my life - things like

Hi my dear readers (if there are any of you left?) - it's me, your absent Worsted Knitt.

As you may know, my knitting passion burned down somewhat a year or two ago, and it hasn't really been rekindled to the extent it used to be. I am still hoping it will, but I'm not forcing it. I am enjoying sewing, theatre, gardening and other hobbies, and working on some knits whenever I feel like it. I promise, the next post will be about finished knits!

I started my third 101 in 1001 challenge and realized I didn't share it at all. The previous ones I have shared 99% completely (see them here: first, second), but this new one is really personal, so I'll just share a few samples. The last one went really bad, but I feel this time around I have some really interesting goals on the list and am really looking forward to achieving them all!

This summer was also spent (well, a few weeks of it... let's face it, the best weeks) in Finland, my home country. The weather was kind, and the people were great. Here are some pics for you to look at:

This March I made my first-ever trip to the USA. more specifically New York. 10 days there were well spent with friends, walking the city (we only missed Queens and Long Island), looking at the beaufiful Hudson river as well as the views from the 86th floor of the Empire State Building. Here are some impressions for you, too!

So, this Christmas is not the best so far - it's warm and the fields are green, and me and hubby are both ill... but it's Christmas anyway, so it can't be all bad!
