Millions of people love bingo due to its crossover appeal, and while knitting and bingo have never really been popular among young people, the popularity of the two recently seem to have gathered steam. Both have benefited from technology, where apps have transformed the age-old pastimes. Maybe it's a hipster thing but bingo and knitting seem to be very appealing among the younger demographic now.
Picture this: about two to three decades ago, bingo was a game that was mostly played by people in their 50s or 60s. That changed several years ago, however, when independent review site Bingo Reviewer saying that the average age of a person who plays bingo is now
47, with 18 to 25-year-olds making up 1/5 of the bingo-playing demographic in the United Kingdom.
In the U.S., the same thing is happening. Online bingo has taken the world by storm, garnering millions for providers that offer the game to and endless stream of online players. Due to a lot of bingo halls closing down left, right and centre, digital providers are now commanding a bigger share of the market. Gala Bingo, one of the biggest online operators in the UK recently started closing many of its clubs in the UK in order to focus more on its online products that include popular games based on TV shows such as Deal or No Deal and Coronation Street
Since bingo is effectively getting rid of their usual stereotypes, it was only a matter of time before it was paired with knitting and crochet. If you’re a fan of both, here is something that you might be interested in doing that shows your love for the game.
Most women put their bingo daubers in their handbag, which actually puts their other things at risk due to the dauber’s ink. The dauber caps are known to be flimsy and can fall off, which will mean ink could leak in the bag over personal possessions.
Don’t run the risk of getting the ink all over your fancy bag. If you’re up for a little project, you can make this awesome bag that holds all your bingo equipment in one place safely. Check out the video at the bottom of the article on how to create the perfect bingo bag. From Crochet Geek:
